i felt a year's worth of hurt and sadness catching up to me the sky i painted to silence the pain it is bleeding into grey i don't know if i've been worse, i don't know if i can change but right now, i don't think, i don't think that i'm okay
Skyler couldn't believe it when she heard Khloe was going to be at Copper Harbor. The girl had been like the little sister she never had when they were growing up. They had been close, back before The Big Event happened. Skyler hadn't been able to convey her emotions well, and it confused everyone around her. Especially when she had started acting out, and participating in all sorts of reckless behavior. Drinking, boys, and even a few drugs had been apart of her life at that time. She hurt so bad. If only Alaina knew what she had done to her best friend by leaving this life.
'Hey Khloe!' she typed out onto her phone. 'Meet me at the mall! I haven't seen you in forever!' Her text was overly girly, and almost seemed fake. But she didn't really know how else to put it. Just jump right in and remind the girl they haven't hung out since Skyler had gone crazy? Skyler cringed at the thought. She hated to be called crazy, despite the fact she did it to herself almost constantly. It was a hard stigma to get over, even with the diagnosis. Did Khloe even know about her Bipolar Disorder? Skyler wasn't sure. It was possible her parents had told Khloe's parents. They had always been pretty close, even when the girls drifted apart. Skyler was hoping she'd be able to repair the relationship between the two of them, rather than having the awkwardness they had now.
She headed to the mall, not sure exactly what she was planning on doing. The two girls could shop. Or they could sit in the food court and reminiscing about the past together. She found a spot in the food court, near the carousel, and sat down. She hadn't gotten any food, but she wasn't all that hungry anyways.
Khloe had only been at Copper Harbor for about a week. Her and her Husband had settled on a cute little apartment and had just received the keys a few days ago to begin moving in. Her husband....man at 18 it was such a strange thing to say, they had been married for a few months now but it had been so quick and thoughtless that sometimes it didn't seem real. Maybe some day they could have a real wedding with their families and friends there. The last few months had been hard, especially without any contact with her family. Now settling in to a new town, new school....new life it could all be a bit much sometimes and yet she did her best to push on with a smile on her face.
Looking around her apartment it reminded her of how little they had in the way of furniture and even decor. They were two college students without much money to their names, school by day and work by night. Khloe had managed to find a job at a local bakery preparing baked goods for the next day, so far she had only worked for 2 nights but she could tell it was a job she was going to like, once she got past the tiredness of staying up a good portion of the night. As she was sitting on the coffee table her phone that was laying next to her started to go off, startling the girl. Glancing down at it she noticed a name that she hadn't seen for a while and yet it brought a smile to her face. It had been quite a long time since she had seen or talked to Skyler. When she was 11 she had no idea what her older friend was going through, and to be honest it kind of scared her as she had no idea how she could help or really what was going on. It wasn't until a few years later through a random conversation with parents that the truth was brought out to light. At this point she was able to understand and even felt a bit guilty that she couldn't have helped Skyler back then.
Give me about 30 minutes and i'll be there! she texted back.
Eager to head out the door she picked up the things she would need and started to head out only stopping when she passed a mirror and saw that she was still in her pajamas, not having bothered to get dressed since she was just planning on unpacking today. Heading back to her bedroom she quickly changed into a grey long sleeved off the should sweater type top, skinny jeans and a air of black boots with some killer heels going on. Throwing her hair up into a messy bun she grabbed her purse and proceeded to the mall. Once their she spotted Skyler sitting alone at a table in the food court, all the smells were making her realize that she was a bit hungry. Glancing at her friend she couldn't help but noticed that she looked great, at least a lot better than she had back then. Khloe on the other end looked like she had not slept for days, even under all the make up. Skyler! she said excitedly, giving a small wave. I'm so glad you got a hold of me, I was going to go crazy unpacking by myself all day she said with a laugh. Her husband had just started his new job and would be gone for at least a few more hours. Khloe didn't do to well by herself for too long and liked having others around. So Tell me whats new? she asked as she took a seat across from skyler. Khloe had known through her parents that Skyler was also at Copper Harbor, and maybe in the back of her mind it was a reason she chose to come here and to get to know her friend again.

Skyler nodded at the text, and then shook her head at herself. Khloe couldn't see her response. It was a text, not a video call. 'Sounds good,' Skyler texted back, and rested her head in her hands. She wasn't sure of what she should think of Khloe. She knew the girl was an easy person to get along with, but that had been a few years ago. Her mom had told her Khloe had gotten married, which was a crazy thought. She was so young, the girl being younger than herself. She had always been like her little sister. Skyler still pictured her as the little girl she knew back then. Besides, at the age of twenty, she couldn't imagine herself being married. She had no dreams of being married, even. She knew it would probably happen eventually, but it almost seemed as if it were in another world.
Skyler jerked her head up as she heard her name being called by a familiar voice. "Khloe!" she called back, perking up at the girl's appearance. It almost seemed easier just to fall back into where they had left off. She almost laughed at the thought of unpacking. Instead, she grinned at the girl. "No need to go crazy; you're here now," she said. She shrugged at the next question. There was a lot new between the two of them, but she wasn't exactly sure where to start. "Oh you know, the usual. School," she said, smiling. "What about you? I heard you're a married woman now!" She was happy Khloe came to Copper Harbor. She wasn't exactly sure what made the girl come here, but she was thankful for the company.

There would be time to talk about the past and sort out what had happened. Khloe knew the Skyler hadn't meant to shut her out and that it was just a dark time for the girl. That was something she understood as she got older. While she would eventually like to really know what happened if Skyler was up to talking about it. For now she wanted to catch up and see what Skyler had been up to and share all the exciting news with her. Perhaps this was the best way to just jump back in, no hurt feelings of the past.
What are you studying? she asked out of curiosity. Khloe was studying to become a baker and was so excited to just get started with classes and just immerse herself in sugar, flour and frosting. I really did need a break, a person can only look at the same walls for so long she laughed. Then the topic of her marriage came up and a big smile came across her face. Well I see my parents are at least talking to people, I have not spoken to them for a couple months now. They weren't exactly happy with it all she said slightly mumbling her words. I mean I know its crazy, but he makes me so happy she said. Khloe was the kind of girl that dreamed of a happily ever after and she believed that she had found that in her husband. Obviously she knew it wasn't going to be all butterflies and rainbows, but anything worth keeping was worth fighting for. Khloe pulled out her hand and set it on the table, on her ring finger was a simple wedding band with 3 small diamonds. The diamonds symbolized the 3 years they had been dating. Neither of them had a lot of money and so he couldn't afford anything fancy. Even if Khloe had a eye for things that sparkled she loved this ring because she loved the man who gave it to her.
What about you, Any one special? she asked, you know girl gossip and all. Khloe could be a bit of a gossiper but she also knew how to keep secrets and didn't blab them out to every one. The girl just liked to be chatty. We decided to come here since it wasn't to far from home. I'm a Culinary student and he is working full time she said.

Skyler's past was hard for her. Especially since her diagnosis. She wasn't quite sure if Khloe knew about it or not. It wasn't something she usually came right out and told. And her parents generally respected her wishes of not telling anyone without her permission. But apparently, Khloe didn't want to talk about the past now, by the way she started the conversation. And Skyler was perfectly okay with that.
"English," she said, but she wasn't sure what she was going to do with her degree. It had just been a major that she knew she would be good at. She could teach, but she wasn't sure if she was cut out for that lifestyle. She had always decided she would figure it out once she achieved her degree. "What about you? What are you studying?" she asked, her voice an octave higher than usual. She gulped air, hoping to settle her anxiety down just a bit.
"Why haven't you talked to your parents?" Skyler asked. She assumed it had something to do with the wedding, but she didn't want to assume out loud. Didn't want to make a fool of herself, anyhow. "I'm glad you're happy with him," she said, smiling. She looked down at Khloe's hand, reaching for it to take a better look at the ring. "It's beautiful," she commented, and smiled up at the other girl. "You'll have to introduce us sometime," she said. Meeting Khloe's husband would be interesting. The words Khloe's husband sounded weird in her head. Her friend, her younger friend, had a husband. And Skyler wasn't even interested in anyone.
"Nobody special in my life," she said, shrugging. She really didn't feel the need to have anyone special in her life right now, anyways. She was happy with the way things were going as it was. "I'm a full-time student, too," she said. She couldn't imagine trying to go to college and working at the same time. She knew people did it, but she was glad she didn't have to.
